Her research focuses on Southeast Asian labour movements, the intersection between national and international trade unions, union responses to temporary labour migration and labour\u2019s engagement in the political sphere. This work has been supported by several Australian Research Council (ARC) grants. Michele currently leads an ARC Discovery Project on employment relations in Indonesia\u2019s commercial fishing industry and an ARC Linkage Project on trade union responses to gender-based violence in Cambodia\u2019s construction industry. Prof Ford is also chair of the International Sociological Association&#8217;s Research Committee 44 &#8216;Labour Movements&#8217;. In addition to her academic work, she has been involved in extensive consultancy work for the ILO, the international labour movement and the Australian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, on Wednesday, the 8th of May, at 1.45\u00a0pm, Prof. Ford will hold a reading seminar around the first two chapters of her book &#8216;Ford, M. (2019).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornellpress.cornell.edu\/book\/9781501735141\/from-migrant-to-worker\/#bookTabs=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">From Migrant to Worker: Global Unions and Temporary Labor Migration in Asia<\/a>.
