Between 8 and 10 September 2025 the Institute of English Studies hosted the annual CEEGS (Central and Eastern Europe Game Studies) conference, belonging in a conference series coordinated by the Middle and Eastern European chapter of DiGRA (Digital Game Research Association). The title of this year’s conference was “Landscapes, Cities, Localities”.
The event was co-organised by the Institute of English Studies (represented by Dr hab. Agata Zarzycka, Prof. UWr, Dr Eleonora Imbierowicz and Adam Bilski, MA) and the Institute of Sociology (represented by Dr Stanisław Krawczyk). The organizing committee also included Dr Szymon Makuch from the Institute of Information and Media Studies. The conference program was coordinated by Dr Agata Waszkiewicz from the Catholic University of Lublin. Dr Dawid Krysiński, Deputy Director for Finances and Development at the Institute of Sociology, took part in the conference opening.

The conference gathered over 80 participants from all over the world, including Poland (32 participants), Czechia (6 participants), Denmark, Greece, Malta, Scotland, England, Finland, Hungary, China, Brazil, Romania, Slovakia, Norway, Australia, Hong-Kong, Estonia, Austria and the USA. The conference program contained two keynote lectures (Dr. hab. Dorota Kołodziejczyk, Prof. UWr, specializing in postcolonial studies, and Märten Rattasepp, the co-creator of games such as Disco Elysium, Pentiment, or Death and Taxes), 39 presentations, and 9 workshops.
Next year’s CEEGS conference remains nearby, as it will take place in Warsaw.
